Here is a frequently asked question we receive from our Facebook Page. How do we get to Dumaguete from Cebu? Or What is the fastest route to get to Dumaguete from Cebu. Even though there are plenty of other options available from a plane, ferry, barge, or bus. (See also related post: Ceres Bus Liner Schedule to and from Cebu City). We find this route to be the fastest yet the most affordable.

What is the fastest yet most affordable route to Dumaguete from Cebu?

From Cebu City, proceed to the Integrated South Bus Terminal in N. Bacalso Avenue,  Cebu City. Take a Ceres Liner going to Bato via Lilo-an Port. Fare is around Php 200 and takes around 3-4 hours to get there depending on Metro Cebu’s traffic. But before you get on, make sure you pay the terminal fee first. (Visit http://www.cebu.gov.ph/cebu-south-bus-terminal-bus-schedules/ for updated bus schedule) 🙂 Get off directly at the Lilo-an Port (also called Puerto del Sur) in Santander, Cebu. Don’t confuse it with Bato port in Samboan, Cebu.

Proceed to the ticketing office and don’t forget to sign the Coast Guard Manifest.

SCHEDULES ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE. Upon arriving Sibulan Port and if you are heading to Dumaguete City, several options are available. You may take a Jeep/Multi-Cab/Easy Ride or tricycle. Land travel from Sibulan Port to Dumaguete City takes less than 30 minutes.

How about the other way around?

Okay, now you may be done with your Dumaguete visit. How do I now get to Cebu? Simple. You can directly flag down a tricycle anywhere within Dumaguete and head directly to the Sibulan Port (expect contract rates). Or have yourself taken to the Sibulan Multi-Cab terminal located near the Dumaguete City Public Market. The fare is around Php 8.00 last time I checked (could have increased already). Book a ticket, as usual, and sign the manifest then immediately get a seat number from the Ceres Bus representative to secure a seat upon arrival in Liloan Port. Please note that this is a first come, first serve basis.
